I love makeup and about a week ago I realized I haven't spoken about what I use on this blog. When I was a preteen I desperately wanted to be a makeup artist. I had tons of makeup and tried to teach myself how to use it. I would try different looks and styles and I even took a cosmetology course one summer. To me makeup is another artistic medium just like paint or clay, the canvas is only the skin.
Over the years and after experimenting with different styles and products I have come to use a very simple approach about my own look. I personally like my makeup simple but chic. Not to much not to little. Foundation, a simple eye shadow, cat eye, mascara and lipstick. My makeup routine varies with the occasion: if I'm going to school I might skip the foundation or if it's a special occasion I might add fake eyelashes. I have been blessed to have relatively clear skin so I often don't wear any foundation or bb cream. I focus more on framing my face, I love a strong brow. I rarely go anywhere with something on my eyes or lips. I'm not trying to look natural nor am I trying to look unnatural this is just what is easy and comfortable for me. Here's a look inside my makeup bag:
Foundation: I use Sonia Kashuk's Perfecting Luminous Foundation in Bisque. It's a light foundation with a smooth finish. Color wise it's my fall/winter skin tone.
BB Cream: When I want something a bit lighter I use Sonia Kashuk's Radiant: Tinted Moisturizer. It's great if you want some coverage and are going to be outside or on the go. This BB Cream is perfect for the summer because it matches my tan and has SPF.

Mascara: My newest addition is Maybelline's Colossal Volume-Cat Eyes. I couldn't choose which mascara to get so I went with the cat one and it works pretty well. It evenly defines my lashes. My older one is The Falsies. It creates a thicker lash look. This one is water proof which is a blessing and a curse, it's a hassle to get off.
Eyes: I use only two products for my eyes Liquid Eyeliner and Revlon Photo Ready Primer + Eyeshadow. I usually use the one of the lighter colors as a base and do a cat eye. As you can see I have used most of the dark brown. I use that eye shadow with a damp angled eyeliner brush to draw on my eyebrows (if they need a little character).
The majority of my lipstick collection.
Colored lip balm: I use the Colour Riche Balm by L'Oreal when I want a little color and gloss. I have them in 518 Tender Mauve and 318 Heavenly Berry.
Lip Stick: Here are my coral and earth tone lipsticks. Since they are mild and subtle I generally wear them to school and running errands. From left to right: Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate in 16, Revlon 628 Peach Me, Revlon 225 Rosewine.
These are my bold babes for when I want a statement lip. From left to right: Milani 05 Red Label, Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate in 20, Revlon 663 Va Va Violet.
Lip Balm: I am a chapstick hoarder. I have them scattered everywhere. My absolute favorite is A Great Kisser by Soap and Glory. It's a lip moisture balm and it has a hint of gloss. It feels sticky to the touch but it's smooth on the lips and smells (and taste) delightful. And it last for a while so you don't have to reapply that often.
